Affordable Online Psychotherapy for Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, and more

Most of us can handle life's ups and downs, but there are times when what you’re doing isn’t working, and you continue to struggle instead of reaching out for help. Sometimes you don't seek help because you're afraid or don’t believe you can be helped, because you don't know that help is available, because society suggests those who need therapy "must be crazy," or, to be bluntly honest, because you think that psychotherapy is just another scam to steal your hard-earned money. Maybe you even had a negative experience with a therapist before, which didn’t help you and wasted your time. Whatever your beliefs or experience, I'd like you to consider that psychotherapy can help. Not only have I witnessed positive changes in my clients, friends, and family as a result of therapy, but numerous research studies have also demonstrated the benefits of the "talking cure." And while it’s true that psychotherapy doesn't work for every single person, just as prescription medications, the only way to find out whether it'll help you is to actually experience it.

Bottom line: You'll get as much out of your therapy as you put in. Think about it as joining a gym: You can buy a membership and never show up (physically or mentally), or you can show up regularly and exert the kind of effort you need to truly achieve your goals.

Rates and Insurance Information

One of the many benefits of working with a Mental Health Counselor is the fact that we are much more affordable than a Psychiatrist or Psychologist, while having some of the same or more counseling training and experience. In addition, the training, testing, and thousands of hours and years of experience required to be licensed in the state of Florida assures you that you're in the hands of a skilled professional.

Insurance

As a boutique counseling practice offering personalized, flexible care to a small and select number of clients, and to provide the high level of care we aspire to, we’ve chosen to work outside the insurance system. Insurance companies in general do not seem to value mental health as much as they say they do, and that’s why more and more mental health practitioners make the same choice every day. Instead, we take pride in keeping our rates affordable and comparable to the average specialist copay in our community, and work with all our clients to meet their particular financial needs on a sliding scale.

About Me

I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and have been living and working in South Florida since 1981. I'm fully bilingual (English and Spanish), earned a MS in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University, and a BFA from Florida Atlantic University. I’ve also attended several seminars on Trauma and PTSD, Ericksonian Hypnosis, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (the latter given by Donald Meichenbaum, PhD, one of the world's foremost experts in CBT). Most recently, I have researched and incorporated Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), a mindfulness-based approach to psychotherapy, as a cornerstone of my practice — with amazing results.

Throughout my career, I have helped clients deal with issues that range from depression, anxiety, self-harm, OCD, traumatic grief, PTSD, LGBT identity and sexual issues to gambling and substance abuse. I’ve worked at private practices and not-for-profit organizations. My practicum took place at the Broward Outreach Center, a homeless shelter in Downtown Hollywood, where I worked with clients of different genders, ethnic groups, nationalities, and sexual orientations with severe mood disorders, addiction, mental illness, and co-occurring conditions. While there, I also helped recently-released convicts adjust to life outside an institution. I call this learning period my "boot camp" into the mental health field.

In addition to my mental health counseling background, I'm also a graduate of the Landmark Forum, Landmark seminars, and the rigorous Landmark Introduction Leader's Program. Landmark Education's self-improvement courses have been lauded by independent studies, including one from the Harvard Business School, as one of the premier personal effectiveness programs.
